Johnny Gough selected for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026

NET would like to say a huge congratulations to Johnny Gough on being selected to represent the UK Electrical Installation industry at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.

Johnny started his skills competition journey with SkillELECTRIC, which is organised by NET. He won the bronze medal in the 2024 UK Final after competing in the Northern Ireland SkillELECTRIC heat earlier that year.

Since his SkillELECTRIC success at UK level, Johnny has gone from strength to strength, competing at EuroSkills in 2025 and now selected this week to be part of a 27-strong ‘Team UK’ who will travel to China in September for the WorldSkills event.

We wish Johnny good luck as he continues his WorldSkills training, and also say a big well done to 2023 SkillELECTRIC bronze medallist Conor McdDnnell who has been training alongside Johnny for the past 12 months in preparation for Team UK selection.

SkillELECTRIC is the only route to international skills competitions via the WorldSkills UK network. Those who compete in this year’s event have a chance to train for WorldSkills 2028 which will take place in Aichi, Japan.
